Write On!
Essential Question: What inspires writers to create their work? What inspires you?
Examples of how the group hopes in investigate the essential question:
- By meeting professional artists and writers and discussing their livelihood with them
- Learning through the experience of actually engaging the creative process
- Trial and error with our own work
- With an exceedingly large magnifying glass and an amusing mustache
- With advanced forensic technology, perhaps involving DNA testing
- Extensive library research, possible involving microfiche

Daily Plan

MONDAY

8:30-9:30 a.m. – Group Meeting (Prep for week, gather questions for afternoon session)

9:30-noon – Session 1: Q & A with a published poet about inspiration (poetry and flash fiction) and Writing Activity – w/ Chelsea Woodard

12-1pm- Lunch and Break

1-2:30 p.m. – Session 2: Talk and Q&A w/ Keith Dorrington re: The Fighter

2:30-4:15 p.m. – Session 3: Talk and Writing Activities: Memoir/ Personal Writing – w/ Kassie Rubico

4:15 - 4:45 - Post Writing

TUESDAY

9:45 a.m. - ARRIVE at Mr. McCollom's classroom- bring iPads.

10-11:30 a.m. – Session 4: Journalistic Writing Talk and Writing Strategy w/ Mr. McCollom

12-1:00 p.m. – Lunch and Break

1:00-3 p.m. – Session 5: Finish Journalistic Workshop then Ideas and Inspiration Talk and Writing Activity w/ Ms. Grosart
3-3:30 p.m. - Prep for time in New Bedford, Woods Hole and Boston. 

3:30 - 4pm - Post Writing

WEDNESDAY – Woods Hole, Falmouth, MA (1 overnight)

8 a.m. DEPART NHS – ARRIVE in New Bedford @ 10:30 a.m.

10:45 a.m. – Session 6: Moby Dick Tour of the New Bedford Whaling Museum – Melville’s inspiration

12:45 p.m. - Lunch at Grosart’s

2:30 p.m. – DEPART Marion – ARRIVE in Woods Hole @ 3:15

3:30 p.m. – Session 7: Talk and Q&A about Screenwriting and Inspiration w/ Peter Simonds

5:15 - 5:45pm - Post Writing

6:30 p.m. – Dinner in Woods Hole.

THURSDAY – BOSTON (1 overnight)

7:30 a.m. DEPART Woods Hole – ARRIVE in Boston @ 9:30 a.m.

10:30-5:45 p.m. – Attend AWP Conference ^^ (Association of Writers and Writing Programs)

8:15 p.m. – Event: Concert at Berklee College of Music

10 a.m. – Museum or Boston Exploration Time

12 p.m. – Lunch in Boston

1 p.m. – Return to NHS
